Capital & Language
Rabat is the capital, but most trips start in Marrakech. Arabic and Tamazight are the official languages. Day to day, people speak Darija, and French is common in cities.
Darija phrasebook →One of us grew up here. The other saw it for the first time. Together we share honest tips, hidden places and the little things nobody tells you before your trip.
We're [Name] and [Name], a Polish-Moroccan couple. One of us knows Morocco from the inside: the family dinners, the Darija, the prices locals pay. The other sees it with fresh eyes, the way you will on your first trip.
That mix is what this site is about. Real places we've been, honest prices, and the tips we wish someone had told us, from rooftop cafés in Marrakech to slow mornings in Essaouira.

Darija phrasebook →The Moroccan dirham (MAD) is a closed currency, so you get it after you land, from an ATM or an exchange office. Carry cash for souks, taxis and street food.
Money guide →March to May and September to November. Summer is very hot inland, and desert nights get cold in winter.
Full guide →Main airports: Marrakech (RAK), Casablanca (CMN), Fes (FEZ), Agadir and Tangier. Many EU, UK, US and Canadian passports need no visa for up to 90 days. Check yours.
Visa guide →Most visits go smoothly. Watch for fake guides and pushy sellers in the medinas, and dress modestly near religious sites. As a couple, keep affection in public low-key.
Safety guide →Morocco can be cheap or luxurious. [Our real daily budget from our trips: backpacker / mid-range / luxury]
Budget breakdown →Atlantic beaches, the Mediterranean north, the Atlas Mountains and the Sahara in the south-east, all in one country.
Destinations →Most Moroccans are Muslim. You'll hear the call to prayer five times a day, and Friday is the main prayer day. During Ramadan, avoid eating in public during the day.
Culture guide →The places we keep going back to, and the ones we're still discovering.

Float over the palm groves outside Marrakech while the sun comes up.
Sleep in a traditional house built around a courtyard, right inside the medina.
Ride into the dunes near Merzouga and spend the night in a desert camp.
Moroccan food is slow food: tagines that cook for hours, fresh bread with every meal and mint tea poured from high up. Some of our best memories happened around a table.
